Mock fire & evacuation drill at Sanskar Vidya Sagar, KDK College Campus

Nagpur: In keeping with directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Maharashtra Fire Service Academy, Mumbai, to conduct a national level fire and evacuation drill, the Fire and Emergency Services Department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) organized the mock drill in at Sanskar Vidya Sagar, KDK College Campus, Nandanvan, Nagpur.

Accordingly, the NMC’s Fire and Emergency Services Department formed teams of the students for different jobs to be carried out for the mock fire and evacuation drill. The teams formed include Communications Team, Fire Team, Rescue Team, Search Team, as well as First Aid Team, Transport Team, Media and Management Team. The teams were given necessary instructions and subsequently the mock fire and evacuation drill was conducted. Around 1000 students, 34 teachers and 25 maintenance staff participated in the mock fire and evacuation drill at Sanskar Vidya Sagar, KDK College Campus, Nandanvan.

A number of demonstrations including dousing flames and rescuing people, displaying and explaining various equipment used in fighting fires, simple precautions to be taken to avoid a fire, basic awareness on how to react if an incident does happen, which can save precious lives, were also held on the occasion.

The mock fire and evacuation drill was conducted under the guidance of Chief Fire Officer Rajendra Uchke. Other officers who rendered their services include Station Officer Keshav R Kothe, Tushar Neware of Civil Lines Station, Fire Redemptive Tambe, Sakkardara Station Officer Sunil Dokre, PS Ghugal, Chief Fire Redemptive, Shivaji Shirke, Sanjay Parate, and other personnel. The Principal of Sanskar Vidya Sagar, KDK College Campus, Nandanvan, Hemlata Ambekar, Director Padmaja Patil, teachers Asha Kamat, Laxmikant Mahajan, Manoj Burde, Shalini Pethe and others extended their cooperation in conduct the drill.

Nagpur: Govindrao Wanjari College of Engineering & Technology, Nagpur had organised a workshop on “Cyber Crime, Crime Against Women, Traffic Awareness” on Thursday Jan 18 at college campus GWCET, Nagpur. The programme was organised under the leadership of Adv Abhijit G Wanjari, Secretary, Amar Sewa Mandal, National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell of college.

Dr. Hemant Sonare, Director, Wanjari Group of Institutions, Nagpur welcomed the chief guest Ashok Bagul, Asstt. Commissioner, Traffic Police, Nagpur City in the presence of Prof M S Motghare, Principal, GWCET. The guest of honour was Atul Agarkar, Head Constable, Road Safety Deptt, Nagpur.

The main objective of this workshop was to guide the students regarding to control the road accidents, traffic awareness and causes from cyber crime. This was the interactive session to answer the queries of boys and girls students held separately and to alert them on the fatal accidents, guide girls or women’s who suffer from the chain snatching and number of hazardous things in their life.

This workshop was organised under the guidance of Ravindrasingh Pardesi, Dy. Commissioner, Traffic Police, Nagpur City. Prof S R Alone conducted the programme and Prof G R Agrawal a vote of thanks.

Nagpur:
Department of Electronics & Communication of G H Raisoni Academy of Engineering and Technology had organised one-day Workshop on “Computer Networking” on Jan 20. Prof Amol Boke, Asstt Professor conducted the Workshop for students of 4th & 6th Semester. Total 28 students participated in this workshop.

This workshop was conducted under the supervision of Dr Vivek Kapur, Principal, and Dr. Pankaj Agrawal, HOD of E&C Department. Workshop comprised of sessions on Concepts of Computer networking and hands-on Ethernet cable making along with simulation of different topologies on Cisco packet tracer.


The whole event was organised and completed successfully by PEACE student forum under the guidance of PEACE in-charge Prof Amol Boke and Prof Shubhangini Ugale.

Nagpur: An Orientation Program of Pradhan Mantri Yuva Yojana (PMYY) was organized on 17/01/2018 in auditorium hall, Priyadarshini Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET), Nagpur under the guidance of Dr.V.M.Nanoti, Principal and Dr.G.M.Asutkar, Vice-Principal. Baldev Singh Rawat, Co-founder, (Value Creations), Manesh Singh Nair, Co-founder, (Capello) and Deepika Sharma delivered their expert lectures on entrepreneurship development and motivate students for doing entrepreneurship.

Prof. Bashir Sheikh (E Cell Incharge) and Richa Singh were prominently Organized the Program. Ambika Dange ,CEO ,ED Cell ,PIET, Nagpur discussed planning and vision about her future business. Prof.Ashish Khachane, Prof.Yogesh Moharkar, Prof.Ketan Bodhe, Prof.Siraj Sayyad, Mayuresh Shivramwar, Vineet Sable, Minal Avzekar and Prof.Rupali Fulse worked hard for success of the program .

Nagpur: ‘Aavhan’ by Dr.Ambedkar Institute of Management Studies & Research, Deekshabhoomi which has a luminous history of three decades was conducted on 20th January, 2018. Aavhan is held by the institute to bridge the gap between academia and industry and ensure the dissemination of knowledge among bright young minds on the various current practices in the professional world. This year Aavhan aims to cover the major trends in Total Quality Management.

The event acted as a platform for students to learn about the various techniques that enable companies to develop and deliver products and services of top quality. Eminent personalities such as Dr R Lakhe, SQMS India, Dr A Shukla, Consultant and S Tare, GM, Mahindra and Mahindra were the speakers at the event and imparted knowledge to the student community on the importance and implementation of quality management techniques in their respective fields.


The first speaker, Dr R Lakhe delivered his talk on how Six Sigma is implemented in India, its relevance to the student community and also to the industries as a whole. The importance of producing and processing with minimal defects and how it impacts the quality of the product or service being offered was discussed by him.

The second speaker, Dr A Shukla’s lecture was on how the 5 S Framework is implemented across industries so as to ensure the speedy, error-free processes and its impact on ease of business. He also enlightened the students on how the use of such practices brings in greater transparency in the entire proceedings of a company and how it is beneficial to them.


The third and final speaker, A Tare talked about how the changing trends in India and the implementation of GST helped M&M bring down the operational costs by reducing the number of stockyards. He enlightened the students on how companies identify, produce and stock their products over the entire duration of the year and how it is beneficial to the organisaitons.

The final portion of the event was a poster presentation competition in which students from across Nagpur participated. The finalists were from Tirpude Hospitality College, Punjabrao Deshmukh Institute of Management and Research, City Premiere College and Ramdebobaba College of Engineering. Anuj Dixit from Tirpude Hospitality College bagged the first prize of Rs. 4,000 for a wonderful display of how the Hospitality Sector ensures absolute quality at all times by a live demonstration as well. The student teams from all the colleges enjoyed themselves quite well.


Total Quality Management lived up to its name and pedigree. It ensured that students, faculty members and also personalities from the industry were enlightened on the various trends and techniques for Quality Management. This, the institute hopes, will ensure that the students will be more aware and better prepared to face the challenges of the changing Indian scenario.

The event was well co-ordinated by students under the guidance of Dr Dipesh Uike and Prof Sushant Waghware.

Nagpur: Lokmanya Tilak Jankalyan Shikshan Sanstha’s (LTJSS) Priyadarshini Institute of Engineering & Technology (PIET) conducted Alumni meet 2018 on Jan 27 in the college campus. In all, 72 alumni belonging to various branches from different companies attended the meet Dr Soni Chaturvedi, Alumni Coordinator PIET, delivered the welcome speech and expressed her views on growth and achievement of PIET.

Dr V M Nanoti, Principal, PIET speaking on occasion suggested to form the governing body of PIET Alumni in Nagpur, Pune, Banglore, Hyderabad, New Delhi etc for strengthning the network of PIET Alumni.

Prof R M Pethe, TPO, PIET, briefed Alumni about various training activities carried out at Institute level for raising the placement of the students as well as passouts.

An interactive session was also organised on the occasion for the Alumni to share their achievement in their respective lives after passing out from PIET. Many expressed their views and shared their old memories about the college.

Various Deans of PIET, all HOD’s and Faculty Members, were also present prominently on this occasion. Departmental Alumni Coordinator namely Prof R V Bobate, Prof A Chahande ,Prof Prerna Jawande, Prof N Puri, Prof Harsha Sarvaiyya, Prof S Khare, Prof A Naik, Prof P Misal, Prof S Datir worked hard to make this event successful under the able leadership of Prof A Potnurwar.

PJLCE organised Two-Day Workshop on Web Application Development

Nagpur: Computer Science & Engineering department of Priyadarshini J. L. College of engineering (PJLCE) organised 2-Days workshop on “Web Application Development” in association with Webakruti Software, Nagpur.

The session was conducted by Harish Chopkar and Ram Ghonmode, from Webakruti Software, Nagpur. The workshop streamlined by various terminologies like types of basic HTML tags, structure of web pages and its usage, database storage and connectivity etc.
They also gave hands-on practice of web development through Sublime Text3 and Xampp server. A question-answer session was conducted to satisfy the doubts of students.

Dr. A.M. Shende, Principal PJLCE motivated students regarding Workshop and Dr. V. P. Balpande, HOD CSE guided the students regarding Career development in Web Application Development. All faculty members of CSE department worked hard to make the event successful. Zeba Parvin proposed vote of thanks.

Exhibition on ‘Science, Engineering, Education from Gandhi Perspective’ inaugurated at PIET

Nagpur: An exhibition on “Science, Engineering and Education from a Gandhian Perspective” was inaugurated in the knowledge centre premise of Priyadarshini Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET). On 30 Jan the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi – also observed as Martyr’s day. The inauguration took place at the hands of Dr Girish Sahasrabudhe, retired professor of physics, Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, Nagpur, who is also actively associated with the Lokavidya Jan Andolan (People’s Knowledge Movement).

The exhibition comprises of 57 posters that highlight how Gandhi adopted a scientific approach and how Gandhian ideology is relevant and useful in the fields of science, engineering and education.

The exhibition is open to visitors from 10 am to 5 pm on all working days.

Nagpur: An expert lecture session on the topic Jobs Opportunities and Recent Trends in IT was recently organized by Department of Computer Science and Engineering of G.H. Raisoni Academy of Engineering & Technology for the students of Third year.

The main objective of the session was to make the fresh graduates aware of entry level programmers “Industry Ready” at the shortest possible time. The students were made familiar with reality about IT, International Certification requirements and various jobs sectors and industries where IT opportunities are available. The speaker also highlighted on real life issues, technology tools and methodologies that are very much relevant to software development. Cost efficient trends using internet and Open sources have been discussed in detail. The resource person spoke about the scope of various career opportunities available in IT Industry apart from programming job. He had suggested students to take up lucrative job-oriented courses, through his thought provoking speech, students had become more aware of job markets alternate to programming.

The lecture was carried out by Deepak Dhote, Operation Manager from IT-NetworkZ Infosystems Pvt. Ltd., Nagpur who carries more than 11 Years Experience in industries. About 30 students attended and were benefitted from the program. Dr. Vivek Kapur, Principal GHRAET and Prof. Amit Pimpalkar, HoD CSE provided full the co-operation for the session. There are 23 hostels located in VIT campus. The hostel area includes an outdoor stadium, swimming pool, basketball courts, badminton courts, squash courts, tennis courts and an indoor stadium with table tennis and badminton courts. There are 17 Men’s Hostels, which accommodate 13000 students in single, double, Three, four bedded and six bedded rooms. A gym facility is also attached with a well maintained swimming pool. The 6 Women’s Hostels have room for 4300 students. Women students have access to gym facilities and a newly built swimming pool inside one of these hostel premises. Individual metering service for those who want A/C facilities is also provided. Optional washing services are provided in well maintained separate washing areas.

Nagpur: A one day National Level Event “Techsaga 2018”, a youth festival, was held at Anjuman College of Engineering and Technology on 29 Jan 2018. Dr. P. G. Yeole, Pro Vice–Chancellor, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur inaugurated the youth festival. Shailesh Awale, Centre Head and Director, HCL, Nagpur was the guest of honour.

After Inaugural function, events from various departments like, National conference on “Advances in engineering and applied science-2018” , “Roborace”, Detective coder, click trick, cant o Pops , The Hunter Games, Human Library were conducted. Around 2000 Students from different Engineering colleges participated in the events.

Nagpur: Department of Computer Science and Engineering of G H Raisoni Academy of Engineering and Technology (GHRAET) had organised one day workshop on Website Design. In the changing world scenario with regards to industry and the job market, there is now an overpowering need for website design. It is a very important to create a website for any business. Website design is one of the most important aspects of one’s online presence.

Sarang Daware, Director, Institute of Software System, Nagpur, enlightened on various techniques such as HTML for web pages design, CSS, CSS framework, Javascript and jQuery. He also demonstrated how to create a website using these frameworks. The major objective and functions of website development include getting the knowledge of websites creation and how to create an effective animation for the website.

Total 43 students of 6th semester were benefitted from the programme. They learnt how to create web pages using HTML also learnt animation to design web pages. Students created the website using HTML, JavaScript, CSS and jQuery.

‘Celestial 2018’ at Anjuman Engineering College

Nagpur: Keeping to its tradition, Annual social gathering ‘Celestial-2018’ was held at Anjuman College of Engineering and Technology from 30th January to 1st February 2018. The annual social gathering was preceded by National Level Event TECHSAGA 2018. Fahmida Ginwala inaugurated the gathering in presence of Justice A A Ginwala, Administrator, Anjuman Hami-E-Islam, Dr Sajid Anwar, Principal, Uzma Firdous, Deans and the heads of the departments of ACET, Convenor, Prof Tirupati Goskula, Co-Convenor-Dr. Irfan Ahmad and Prof Akbar Nagani, along with other esteemed guests.

Various activities and events marked the three day Social Gathering. The Arts and Science Exhibition marked the beginning of Celestial 2018. It was inaugurated at the hands of Fahmida Ginwala in the presence of Justice A A Ginwala, Dr Sajid Anwar, Uzma Firdous, other esteemed guests, wherein hundreds of students participated in more than 20 categories of events, like Poster Competition, Photography competition, Wall painting, Khana Khazana, Mehendi art.

This was followed by the FETE, which was inaugurated at the hands of Justice A A Ginwala, Administrator, Anjuman Hami-E-Islam. It had various stalls of games and delicacies accompanied by live band and orchestra which was enjoyed by everyone. Varsha Chandel, Mahrukh Khan, Nighat Ali, were prominently present as the Judges for the Arts and Science Exhibition and Fete. Anupriya Verma, finalist of Master Chef India, was present as the Judge for the Food Stalls of the Fete.

The prize distribution ceremony was held on the 31st January in the morning. Students and staff were honoured and felicitated for their remarkable achievements in academics, sport and other co-curricular activities. Dr Q H Jeevaji, Dr Sheikh Shabbir, Dr A M Sheikh, alongwith Dr Sajid Anwar, Deans and heads of the departments were prominently present for the prize Distribution Ceremony. It was followed by a grand lunch for the students and the Alumni of ACET.

A glittering fresher evening was held. Palash Mode, from the fashion world, Juveria Khan, from the Times of India, Yogesh Shinde, Academics were the Judges for the event. Shivansh Gawalikar was declared Fresher, Muskaan Gaur was crowned as Miss Fresher at the hands of Principal Dr Sajid Anwar and Uzma Firdous respectively.

Renowned Cricketer Faiz Fazal, Captain Vidarbha Cricket Team, graced the Freshers Evening. He was felicitated at the hands of Dr Sajid Anwar and Uzma Firdous in the presence of Prof Tirupati Goskula, Convenor, Celestial 2018.

The Best Student Competition and Alumni Meet was also held on 1 Feb in the morning session as a part of three day celebration.

A cultural night marked the finale of the three days festivity, thought provoking plays, regional group dancers, group and solo songs were beautifully presented by the students. Justice A A Ginwala, Administrator, AHI, Fahmida Ginwala, Dr Sajid Anwar, Uzma Firdous, Mohmad Rafiullah, Dr Sheikh Shabbir, Dharini Selarka, Anurag Verma, M S Ali, Razia Haseeb, Aditya Bhaiyya, Shakir Ali, Irfan Ahmad, Razia Sultana, R J Saurav from Red FM 93.5 were prominently present.

Nagpur: Raman Science Centre and ISHRAE jointly conducted an Interschool Science Quiz contest. The final round was on 30th Jan 2018. Master Prasad Kukde of std. X and Master Rutvik Pathak of std. IX of Somalwar High School, Ramdaspeth won the 1st Prize in Semi–English medium category.

They received a memento, certificate, books and a rolling trophy for school. Ku. Sanmati Pande of std. X and Master Harshal Dawande of std. IX bagged the 4th prize in English medium category. They received certificate and books.

The students were guided by science teachers P. P. Kali and J. M. Jaodekar. The School Management and Head Mistress V. P. Dakhole congratulated the students for their outstanding performance.

Nagpur: Civil Engineering in the world is witnessing technological advancement and Nano-Concrete is the future of Civil Engineering says the Chief Guest Dr. Indubhushan Patnaikuni at the Two-Days International Conference on Innovative Realms in Civil Engineering held at KDK College of Engineering, Nagpur. He threw light on the process and advancements in concrete right from the production of cement to the era of Nano-Concrete. Dr. Patnaikuni, in his key-note address stressed the need of more research and development in the field of Nano-concrete for the larger benefit of the world. He informed that there could be a achievement of sustainable development with the help of Nano-concrete. Dr. Patnaikuni is the senior professor at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. Beside Dr. Patnaikuni, Dr. KVL Subramaniam, Professor, IIT Hyderabad and Dr. Archana Sarkar, Professor, National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkey, Uttarakhand were prominently present during the inaugural ceremony of the conference.

Speaking on the occasion, guest of honor, Er. Vivek Naik, National President of Indian Concrete Institute, said that the conference is being organized on right theme as the world needs innovation in every sector. At this juncture, he raised his concern that almost 7.5 million of engineers graduated in the world every year including India’s contribution of 25%. He informs that the employability of the Engineering Graduates of India is just about 10%, which have to be increased by the holistic approach by the institutions in India. Innovation is the key to success, which can the mindset of the engineers. The theme of Innovative Realms in Civil Engineering is best suited to the present situation as this will bring the interest of learning and application among the faculty and student of engineering institutions. He informed the ICI is doing the work of disseminating the technological innovation that is happening in the field of concrete through various efforts. One such effort is the opening of knowledge centers in many cities, which will cater to the fraternity. He praised KDK College for bringing important changes in their strategy & infrastructure for serving the Civil Engineering students in better way.

Dr. A M Badar, Conference Chair, calls the civil engineers to help the society and the nature through the innovative practices in civil engineering. He said still there are lot of scope for the innovations in various fields of civil engineering. He cited an example of Bangalore, wherein entire building were utilizing natural light during the day time without using a electrical lighting system. This could happen due to innovation only.


Rajendra Mulak, in his presidential address, hails the organization of conference and invite the eminent experts, deligates and participant to work cohesively to take out the solutions to the construction problems across the globe. He narrated how the Nagpur Metro has become the unique metro in India by adopting innovative approaches. He seek guidance from the eminent experts and keynote speakers to for betterment of the development in the civil engineering infrastructure. He believed that the conference would be of immense importance to the Civil Engineering fraternity.

Earlier to this, the conference was inaugurated by lightening the traditional lamp followed by the welcome of the guests by giving away the sapling. Dr. D P Singh, Principal, welcome the guest, invitees, delegate, participants to the conference, IRICE-2018. Dr. Valsson Varghese, the convener, presented the details of the proceedings of the conference in coming two days. The conference proceeding and a CD was unveiled by all the dignitaries on this occasion. All the guests were felicited with Shawl, Shreefal and a Memento as a mark of remembrance at the hands of Rajendra Mulak.

The main intension of this meet is to inform parent about academic progress of their ward as well as to bridge the gap between institute and parents. The hard and quality effort made by the faculty members has also been conveyed to Parents. Improvement actions which the faculty members have taken for students were admired by the Parents.

BUDGET 2018
Nagpur: Jai Durga Bahu-Uddeshiya Jankalyan Sanstha’s Green Heaven Institute of Management and Research, Nagpur and Nagpur Chamber of Commerce Ltd jointly organised a Workshop on Union Budget 2018 at Chamber’s Hall recently. The objective of this workshop was to enable Businessmen as well as students to understand the changes in Income Tax slabs and also to understand the impact of Budget on Trade and Industry. The speakers for the workshop were CA Kailash Jogani and CA Zainab Kamal.

The first part of the workshop dealt with the “Changes in Income Tax rules according to the Union Budget 2018”, which was very well explained by CA Zainab Kamal. The other part of the workshop was about “ Impact of Budget on Trade, Industry and Capital Market”, which was taken by CA Kailash Jogani. Both of them also answered the queries of audience in relation to various amendments in the budget.

The workshop was presided & chaired by President of Chamber Vishu Kumar Pacheriwala and conducted by Shri. Anil Sharma, Secretary of NCCL and Secretary of Jai Durga Bahu-Uddeshiya Jankalyan Sanstha. The workshop was praised by eminent members of NCCL and Businessmen of in and around Nagpur who attended the workshop. Sheetal Deshmukh, a student of GHIMR proposed vote of thanks. The workshop was co-ordinated by Dr. Anup Suchak and was attended by Dr. Pramod Thakur and all the students of GHIMR.

Nagpur: A guest lecture was organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering for all students of GNI on ‘Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking’. Mr.Mahesh Rakheja, Technical Public Speaker and Startup Enterpreneur, Nagpur and Mr. Prakash Mane, API, Cyber Cell, Nagpur were the guest speakers. Mr. Mahesh highlighted the significance of ethical hacking and its need of time.

He figured out all the loop holes possible in the digital world and the ways to mitigate same. Likewise he urged students to update themself in this field to avoid falling pray to any online forgery. Mr. Prakash explained students the ways in which they have to be alert during online actions. He also presented the statistics of relevant crime in Nagpur region.

Student volunteers Rushabh Gedam, Piyus Patil and Akshay Rokde worked hard for organizing and conducting this session. Dr. Sudhir Shelke Principal GNIT also graced the occasion with valuable words. YCCE’s ‘AGNISTOK’ gets best magazine award

Nagpur: The annual magazine ‘AGNISTOK’compiled by Electrical Department, Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE) was awarded as the best magazine among all the magazines compiled by the institutions of Meghe Group of Institutions (MGI). It was a spectacular achievement for team Agnistok. Meghotsav 2017, an inter-institutional event in which all institutions and organisations under Meghe group participate was conducted recently. It also recognizes employees for their hardwork throughout the year by felicitating them by awards such as best employees, best magazine of the year, best HOD, best faculty etc.

In the same programme, AGNISTOK was awarded. The programme was inaugurated at the hands of Datta Meghe, Ex MP and Chairman of Nagar Yuvak Shikshan Sanstha (NYSS). The employees in the various institutions under the umbrella of Meghe group likeYCCE, SDMP, RGCER, ADCC, TUCB, VTC, Sai Ashram etc participated in the competition.
