Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Puja & SanjanaA cultural fest is an amalgamation of various cultural flavors and hard work by the students that comes together into a vibrant mix of colors and moods resulting in fun and frolic that lasts for days in any Institution. Priyadarshini Institute of Engineering and Technology’s interpretation of this is called “UDAAN”. Udaan 2013-14 was celebrated on New Year’s Eve by the I.T. Department of the college which made the celebrations even better and merrier.

The Dancing Team

The Dancing Team

A twist in the traditional tale arrived like a bolt from the absolute blue as this year UDAAN was celebrated individually by each of the Engineering branches which made the fun last longer than it actually did in all of the previous years. The sports events were also culminated in this new brand of Fest philosophy which saw all the branches actively participating in the sports events leading to a rise in the competitive spirits and tough matches being going right to the wire to awarding the winners in all the sports categories. The cultural side of the festival saw all the branches organizing their own versions of UDAAN.

Organizing the fest on a branch level was a revelation for all because this new experiment to split the event to the departments was as much fun as it was a challenge. All disciplines organized the event in their own exposition of UDAAN from the 26th of December to the last on 31st December which was by the I.T.  Department under the guidance of Prof. Pallavi Chaudhari, organizing Head and Prof. Sushma Ghode, supervising Head.

The last event of the proceedings was hosted by the I.T.  Department on the 31st of December which was the most successful pertaining to many reasons. The foremost of them being that the department retained the original name UDAAN weighing in to the emotional connect to the fest of the students as well as the teachers belonging to the Department , the others being the organizational compactness and the variety of the performances incorporated in the event . Not only the students, but the teachers were also an active participating entity in their event. The event saw some scintillating performances by the students and some spellbinding impromptu acts by the teachers on students’ request which made the day even more unforgettable. The specialty feature of the event being that it was solely organized by the students of the Department and teachers helped with their valuable guidance.

The event had a variety of performances like singing, acting, dances and included surprises like games which gained appreciation as well as the participation of teachers leading to wholehearted appreciation coming from the entire senior faculty including Dr. C. G. Dethe, Principal, PIET. Gaining an edge over all was the spectacular talent of IT students coming from the best singers and dancers from the college rising up to the occasion.

The day ended with the students dancing and celebrating within themselves and then parting with warm New Year wishes to each other with lots of lovely memories of the day in their hearts.

Slug: Priyadarshini Institute of Engineering & Technology hosts “NCOAT-NIRMITI-2014

DSC_3672Nagpur Today: The innovative, creative talents and capacities of students was evident in the creations and inventions that were displayed as models in the Priyadarshini Institute of Engineering & Technology hosts “NCOAT-NIRMITI-2014. Some of the important and very appealing inventions that caught the eye are explained herewith.

The students of Yashoda Public Higher Secondary School have invented a crematorium that is run on solar power. If commercially made, this could save any civic body across the country a sizeable amount which is otherwise spent on diesel or electricity. The Diesel crematorium requires 22 litres fuel costing around Rs 1,000 per body, while the Electric Crematoriums use around 120 Kv for burning up a dead body. What the students have created could revolutionize the concept of environment-friendly cremation. This could save power, diesel, wood and all other paraphernalia used to cremate the dead.

The model named as Solar Crematorium that they have created has solar panels, back-up batteries and a circuit that enables the process of cremation. What appealed to all the guests, judges and the onlookers was that this is a very viable project that can be commercially made and set-up by every civic body. The Judge and the chief guest HoD of Chemistry, Government Institute of Science Dr Rashmi Bhatra said that if only the Mayor of NMC comes to witness the exhibition, then he make think in terms of establishing a real one in the city. The students who innovated the Solar Creamatorium are Ashutosh Bankar, Nikhil Dhandar and Akash Uikey.

DSC_3657A  Super Cycle –a Self reliant machine

The students of Class 11th of Bhavan’s (Ashti Branch)  created a wonderful Super  Cycle which can be used to generate electricity, store electricity, Give water to fields, perform crop cutting, refill the threads for  handloom machine etc. The students who invented this machine, while speaking with Nagpur Today very enthusiastically explained how their model can be very useful in villages where there are frequent power cuts. The traditional method to draw water from wells and generators to produce electricity is costly. Manual labour for crop cutting is pretty tedious. To give an alternate solution and to combine all these efforts into their super cycle will be very beneficial cost efficient and easily available.

The process is very simple and can be performed by one or two people by peddling the cycle. India is a agriculture dependent country and this cycle will give a huge help to farmers with very low cost, which they can easily afford.  The students who invented the Super Cycle are Yashasvi Singh, Sumegh Dhole and Abhsihek Pandey- They were guided by their teacher Samir Khule.

Jain Institute of Technology, Management & Research, Nagpur under the guidance of V.P.Katekar and N.Alvi invented trapezoidal solar cooker which overcomes present limitations in the field such as high cost, enormous human effort and large weight.

The cooker provides an improved panel which works as tracking system in this cooker helping to eliminate the tracking arrangement which reduces human effort. The significance of these panels is that they replace the tracking system which reduces cost and reduces human effort of frequent adjustment of mirror, reducing the weight. A novel focus arrangement includes four reflecting panels for gathering the sun’s rays and focusing them into a zone so as to distribute the heat for effective cooking without burning the food or the containers .The cooker folds into a relatively small package for storage or transportation. It can be assembled quickly and easily. The cooker in its small, folded condition is highly portable, but is easily and quickly set up for use.

Further means are provided for holding and cooking various types of food including liquids, solids, etc.

The device provides a single glazed glass reflector having a relatively short focal length and which provides focusing of the reflected rays into a zone so as to provide effective heating of the cooking area without overheating.

An application (application no. 4126/MUM/2013, dated 31.12.2013) for patent is already being filed for said invention. Inventors are thankful to A.A.Roy, Patent Agent, Rhine Associates, Nagpur for searching, analyzing its patentability, drafting and filling the same.
